Personal note: I know Christianity from regular attendance of Church services (Catholic, Baptist, Methodist and more) and Bible study groups until early adulthood. After learning that (a) “Jesus” never existed as a real person, (b) Christianity is a psychological weapon against non-jews, and (c) there are vastly superior ways of developing God-consciousness, I left the “Jesus” cult and have never looked back.

1. Christianity kills nature

1.1 Nature-consciousness throttled

Spirituality is associated with awe (wonder and amazement) and it involves:

  • A feeling of smallness to something greater than oneself – God, the grandeur of nature, or some greater force in the Universe.
  • Humility in relation to that greater something.
  • Connection to that greatness — feeling part of a greater whole.1

Spirituality is different to religiosity.

  • Religiosity is defined in terms of affiliation and adherence to a prescribed set of beliefs and practices.1

Spirituality can be felt outside of religious affiliation.1

Religious/non-religious people recall different kinds of spiritual experiences:

  • Religious people mention events that are more explicitly religious such as religious belief or attending church.
  • Non-religious people report more alternative spiritual sources, e.g. nature, yoga, meditation, science.1

In other words, religion is spiritually much more important than nature for religious people, but nature is much more spiritually important than religion for non-religious people.1

1.2 Nature biblically disrespected

  • … destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves. (Exodus 34:13)
  • … destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves …. (Deuteronomy 7:5)
  • … overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire …. (Deuteronomy 12:3)
  • … smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword. (Deuteronomy 13:15)
  • But of the cities of these people, which the Lord thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth. (Deuteronomy 20:16)
  • Only the trees which thou knowest that they be not trees for meat, thou shalt destroy and cut them down …. (Deuteronomy 20:20)

1.3 A talk by Prof. Eric Pianka

Famous ecologist Prof. Eric Pianka (1939 — ) spoke about our ecological catastrophe on 21 Oct 2004 as part of IPFW School of Arts and Sciences Distinguished Lecturer Series. The talk is called The Vanishing Book of Life. It is on YouTube here.

Quote from Prof. Pianka’s talk (as of 46:00) on the causes of our ecological catastrophe:

Be fruitful and multiply, and subdue the earth. [quote from the Bible] Organized religion is the enemy man. They have painted the PATH to GET where we are! There it is. And, we didn’t replenish the earth. We checked off all the others. We HAVE dominion over the fish and the fowl, we’ve SUBDUED it, we’ve TAKEN it, but we haven’t replenished ANYTHING. We’re NOT taking good care of it…. We’re ALL responsible. Everything we do, every time you fill up your gas tank, every time you flush your toilet, every time you buy a new gizmo for your computer or a new telephone or a cell phone, you’re contributing to ALL of this! NONE of us are innocent!

To clarify, these are Prof. Pianka’s main points:

  • Organized religion is the enemy.
  • Perverse religious teachings led to our destruction of Nature.
  • We are all responsible for the resulting ecological catastrophe.

Later in his talk, and in more recent presentations by other scientists, we can learn why our destruction of Nature leads inevitably to human catastrophe.

1.4 My personal observations

The above is consistent with my impression of religious vs non-religious people concerning our ecological crisis. Among followers of the Abrahamic religions whom I personally know (mostly Christians and jews), none show high awareness or concern about the ecological collapse, few can even identify common birds other than the most common (robin, house sparrow, carrion crow, etc) and even fewer are making a meaningful effort (examples in Blog Purpose) to try conserve God’s creations. In fact nearly all the religious people I know are decidedly consumerist, i.e. they are part of the problem.

1.5 The re-awakening

Since the re-awakening of ecological consciousness in the 1960s, the catastrophic egotism of Abrahamic religions has been intensely criticized. As neuroscientist John Reid said, “the precepts of the Abrahamic religions, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam represent the quintessential perversion of the human mind. They must be abandoned and the notion of the sanctity of human life must be subjugated to the greater sanctity of all life on Earth.”2 As is explained in Arrows and Comments,3 Christianity is like cancer. It doesn’t necessarily kill immediately but it’s a terminal disease. See also The Fair Race’s Darkest Hour.4

In other words, we need to reconnect with the organic spiritual roots of our true religion (paganism) and again appreciate that everything in the natural world — animals, plants, mountains, rocks, seas, rivers, islands, Earth and the cosmos as a whole — is spiritually endowed and alive to some degree.

2. Christianity kills people

2.1 People biblically disrespected

The psychopathic character of Yahweh, the Semitic deity known to Christians as “God” and “Lord,” is clearly revealed in the Bible. For example:

  • “The LORD will send upon you curses, confusion, and rebuke, in all you undertake to do, until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly …”, “make the pestilence cling to you until He has consumed you …”, “smite you with consumption and with fever and with inflammation and with fiery heat and with the sword and with blight and with mildew” and “pursue you until you perish.” (Deuteronomy 28:20-24)
  • “One third of you will die by plague or be consumed by famine among you, one third will fall by the sword around you, and one third I will scatter to every wind, and I will unsheathe a sword behind them.” (Ezekiel 5:12)
  • “He who is far off will die by the plague, and he who is near will fall by the sword, and he who remains and is besieged will die by the famine.” (Ezekiel 6:11-12)
  • “I send My four severe judgments … sword, famine, wild beasts and plague …” (Ezekiel 14:21)
  • “I am going to make an end of them by the sword, famine and pestilence.” (Jeremiah 14:12)
  • “I will punish that nation with the sword, with famine and with pestilence … until I have destroyed it …” (Jeremiah 27:8)
  • “Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth.” (Revelation 6:8)
  • “The LORD struck all the firstborn in the land … there was no home where there was not someone dead.” (Exodus 12:29-30)
  • “I sent a plague among you … I slew your young men by the sword along with your captured horses, And I made the stench of your camp rise up in your nostrils …” (Amos 4:10)
  • “I will send pestilence among you, so that you shall be delivered into enemy hands.” (Leviticus 26:23-26)
  • “The LORD struck the people with a very severe plague.” (Numbers 11:31-34)
  • “Those men … died by a plague before the LORD.” (Numbers 14:36-38)
  • “For wrath has gone forth from the LORD, the plague has begun!” (Numbers 16:46-48)

Sometimes Yahweh was also worshipped as Baal or Moloch, the Israelite god who demanded that children be sacrificed to him.5

2.2 Christian atrocities against non-Christians

This small sample of Christian atrocities against pagans is from a long and detailed list of such evil Christian conduct documented by Vlasis Rassias in Demolish Them! (published in Greek, Athens 1994, Diipetes Editions, ISBN 960-85311-3-6) as published in English by Mike Magee (2010) on Church and State: Challenging religious privilege in public life.6

326 Christians destroy the temple of the god Asclepius in Aigeai Cilicia and many temples of the goddess Aphrodite in Jerusalem, Aphaca, Mambre, Phoenicia, Baalbek, etc.

330 Christians steal the treasures and statues of the pagan temples of Greece.

335 Many pagan temples are sacked, the execution by crucifixion of “all magicians and soothsayers;” is ordered, the neoplatonist philosopher Sopatrus is martyred.

341 Christians persecute all the soothsayers and Hellenists. Many pagan Hellenes are imprisoned or executed.

346 New large-scale persecutions against non-Christian peoples in Constantinople. Banishment of the famous orator Libanius, accused as a “magician.”

353 The death penalty is ordered for all kinds of worship through sacrifices and “idols.”

354 The closing of all pagan temples is ordered. Some of them are profaned and turned into brothels or gambling rooms. Pagan priests are executed. The first burning of libraries in various cities of the Empire. Lime factories are built next to closed pagan temples. A large part of sacred pagan architecture is turned into lime.

356 The destruction of the pagan temples and execution of all “idolaters” is ordered.

359 In Skythopolis, Syria, Christians organize the first death camps to torture and execute arrested pagans from all around the empire.

361 to 363 Under Emperor (361 to 363) Flavius Claudius Julianus, a pagan, religious tolerance of paganism is declared in Constantinople (11 Dec 361).

363 Emperor Julianus is assassinated (26 Jun).

364 Orders to burn the Library of Antioch, the death penalty for all pagans that worship their ancestral gods or practice divination, confiscation of all properties of pagan temples, and the death penalty for participating in pagan rituals, even private ones.

370 Tremendous persecution of pagans in the Eastern Empire, e.g. ex-governor Fidustius and the priests Hilarius and Patricius are executed; tons of books are burnt in the squares of the cities of the Eastern Empire; all the friends of Emperor Julianus (pagan, assassinated in 363) are persecuted; the philosopher Simonides is burned alive; and the philosopher Maximus is decapitated.

372 The extermination of all Hellenes and all documents of their wisdom is ordered.

373 The term “pagan” (pagani, villagers, equivalent to the modern insult, “peasants”) is introduced by Christians to demean non-Christians.

380 Emperor declares pagans “loathsome, heretics, stupid and blind.”

381 Pagan temples and libraries are looted or burned down. The temple of goddess Aphrodite is turned into a brothel and the temples of Sun and Artemis into stables.

385 to 388 Christian gangs scour the countryside. They sack and destroy hundreds of Hellenic temples, shrines and altars. Thousands of innocent pagans from all sides of the empire suffer martyrdom in the notorious death camps of Skythopolis.

388 Public talks on religious subjects are outlawed.

389 to 390 Hordes of fanatic hermits from the desert flood the cities of the Middle East and Egypt. They destroy statues, altars, libraries, pagan temples and lynch the pagans. Heavy persecution of pagans includes killing pagan priests by stoning.

391 Prohibition of not only visits to pagan temples but also looking at the vandalised statues. New heavy persecutions occur all around the empire. Christians demolish the temple of the god Serapis (the Serapeion), burn its famous library, and profane the cult images.

392 New full scale persecutions against pagans. The Mysteries of Samothrace are ended and the priests slaughtered. In Cyprus the local bishop “Saint” Epiphanius and “Saint” Tychon destroy almost all the temples of the Island and exterminate thousands of pagans.

395 New persecutions against pagans. Hordes of Christians, encouraged by Christian monks, sack and burn many cities (Dion, Delphi, Megara, Corinth, Pheneos, Argos, Nemea, Lycosoura, Sparta, Messene, Phigaleia, Olympia, etc.), slaughter or enslave innumerable pagan Hellenes and burn down all the temples. Among others, they burn down the Eleusinian Sanctuary and burn alive all its priests.

396 Paganism is now treated as high treason. The few remaining pagan priests and hierophants are imprisoned.

397 It is ordered that all the still standing pagan temples must be be demolished.

398 Studying the books of pagans is prohibited for everyone, including Christian bishops.

401 The Christian mob of Carthage lynches pagans and destroys temples and “idols.” In Gaza too, the local bishop “Saint” Porphyrius sends his followers to lynch pagans and demolish the remaining nine still active temples of the city.

405 Hordes of gray-dressed monks armed with clubs and iron bars destroy the “idols” in all the cities of Palestine.

406 In Ephessus, order to destroy the famous temple of goddess Artemis. In Salamis, Cyprus, “Saints” Epiphanius and Eutychius continue the persecutions of pagans and totally destroy their temples and sanctuaries.

408 It is ordered that all sculptures of pagan temples be either destroyed or taken away. Private ownership of pagan sculpture is also outlawed. Local bishops lead new heavy persecutions against pagans and new book burning. Judges that have pity for pagans are also persecuted. “Saint” Augustine massacres hundreds of protesting pagans in Calama, Algeria.

409 It is ordered that all methods of divination including astrology be punished by death.

415 A Christian mob, urged by the bishop Cyrillus, attack, rape and cut to pieces the famous and beautiful philosopher Hypatia. The pieces of her body, carried around by the Christian mob through the streets of Alexandria, are finally burned together with her books in a place called Cynaron. New persecutions start against all pagan priests of North Africa who end their lives either crucified or burned alive.

416 Extermination of the last pagans of Bithynia.

423 Emperor declares that paganism is nothing more than “demon worship” and orders all those still practising it to be punished by imprisonment and torture.

429 The temple of goddess Athena (Parthenon) on the Acropolis of Athens is sacked. The Athenian pagans are persecuted.

435 The death penalty is ordered for all “heretics” and pagans of the empire. Only Judaism is considered a legal non-Christian religion.

440 to 450 Christians demolish all the monuments, altars and temples of Athens, Olympia, and other Greek cities.

448 It is ordered that all pagan books to be burned.

450 All the temples of Aphrodisias (the City of the Goddess Aphrodite) are demolished and all its libraries burned down.

457 to 491 Persecutions against pagans of the Eastern Empire. Among others, the physician Jacobus and the philosopher Gessius are executed. The proselytiser Conon and his followers exterminate the last pagans of Imbros Island, Norheast Aegean Sea. The last worshippers of Lavranius Zeus are exterminated in Cyprus.

482 to 488 The majority of pagans of Minor Asia are exterminated.

486 “Underground” pagan priests are discovered, tortured and executed in Alexandria, Egypt.

515 Emperor orders the massacre of the pagans in the Arabian city Zoara and the demolition of the temple of local god Theandrites.

546 Hundreds of pagans are put to death in Constantinople.

556 Emperor orders the inquisitor Amantius to go to Antioch, arrest, torture and exterminate the last pagans of the city and burn all the private libraries down.

562 Mass arrests, imprisonments and executions of pagan Hellenes.

578 to 582 Christians torture and crucify pagan Hellenes all around the Eastern Empire, and exterminate the last pagans of Heliopolis (Baalbek).

580 Christian inquisitors attack a secret temple of Zeus in Antioch. The priest commits suicide, but the rest of the pagans are arrested. All the prisoners are tortured, sentenced to death and thrown to the lions. As the lions would not kill them, they are crucified. Their dead bodies are dragged in the streets by the Christian mob and afterwards thrown into the dump, unburied.

583 New persecutions against pagan Hellenes.

590 Christian accusers “discover” pagan conspiracies in the Eastern Empire. This leads to a new storm of torture and executions.

950 to 988 Violent conversion of the last pagan Hellenes of Laconia by the Armenian “Saint” Nikon.

2.3 My personal observations

Christians helped to promote the jew-jab (clot-shot, kill-shot). Due to hostile e-mails and attempted comments on the blog that I received after I started warning readers (as of early 2020) about jews’ fake “pandemic” and genocidal “jab,” I looked at some of the Christians’ blogs. They were intensely pro-“vaxx.” Christians typically urged their readers to “Get jabbed!” Similarly, in my social network, it was mostly the Christians who unquestioningly took the jew-jab. In contrast, the non-Christians tended to rationally evaluate the facts and decide against the jew-jab.

What does the above tell us about Christianity? Does it promote rational thinking? Is it pro-life? Or is Christianity a death cult?

3. All for a pack of lies

3.1 “Jesus” never existed

There is zero historical evidence of “Jesus” having ever existed as a real person. For example:

  • Jesus never existed: Exposing the tragic fabrication of a saviour of the world (2004) by Kenneth Humphreys.7
  • American lawyer Joseph Wheless (1868-1950, knew ancient Greek, Hebrew, and Latin, studied Jewish and Christian origins, and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity by the University of Denver) found that the biblical Jesus never existed.8

Consistent with the above, a personal friend of mine (fluent in many different languages, including Hebrew and Greek, a recognized expert on the origins of the Bible) published an academic book on this subject in the 1980s. I chatted with my friend daily as he wrote the book. He showed me, with reference to original texts, exactly where jews twisted facts in the Bible and lied in order to further jewish interests. In particular, the biblical “Jesus” did not exist until jews invented him. Similarly, jews’ self-proclaimed “chosenness” etc was totally made up by jews. (Unfortunately I cannot find my friend’s book online.)

The City Of Nazareth did not even exist during the purported life of Jesus.9

3.2 Esus

The “Jesus” myth is based on that of “Esus,” which is Celtic for “Lord,” or “Master.”10 “Esus was a powerful Celtic deity, one of three mentioned by the Roman poet Lucan in the 1st century AD; the other two were Taranis (“Thunderer”) and Teutates (“God of the People”). Esus’ victims, according to later commentators, were sacrificed by being ritually stabbed and hung from trees. A relief from the Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris portrays him as a bent woodman cutting a branch from a willow tree.”10

To clarify, both Esus and Jesus were carpenters, both were involved in human sacrifice on wood (Jesus was allegedly sacrificed on a wooden cross), both were involved in stabbing (Jesus was supposedly stabbed while on the cross), and Esus became Jesus for the purposes of Christianity.

3.3 The Bible is highly unreliable

In addition to the “Jesus” fiction, the Bible is highly unreliable more generally:

“The most ancient manuscripts of the Hebrew texts date only from the eighth century of the era of Christ; while of the Christian books, said to have been written by the direct inspiration of the Holy Ghost within the first century of the era, all are lost, and the oldest “copies” bear the marks of the fourth century. And even in this fourth century, so gross was the corruption of text, so numberless the errors and conflicting readings, that the great St. Jerome, author of the celebrated Latin Vulgate version of the Scriptures, has left it recorded, as his reason for his great work, that the sacred texts “varied so much that there were almost as many readings as codices” (Wheless, 1926).8

4. Conclusion

No mentally normal person would worship “Jay-a-sus the Lawd!” if they knew:

  • The horrendous crimes against humanity and Nature committed in the name of the psychopathic Yahweh and the evil “Jesus” cult.
  • “Jesus” never existed and the Bible is highly unreliable.
  • There are vastly superior religious alternatives to Christianity.

Why is Hitler the most vilified person on the planet?

Note: I am anti-Christianity. However, as an eclectic I gratefully accept the good regardless of the author’s religion. Similarly, as a pragmatist I favour the greatest possible unity against our self-declared common jew enemy. I therefore strongly support the education about jew evil provided by CFT. Following are extracts from the CFT article and CFT’s comments below the article.

1. Why is Hitler the most vilified person on the planet?

Adolf Hitler was THE man who stood up to the psychopathic jew. He made an impact like no other man on Earth. He set a precedent. He showed how a country can recover if you stand up to the evil jew and kick the parasite out. A natural healing process then occurs. Hitler’s proof of this caused international jewry to absolutely panic. They went all out to destroy the healing process.

2. Lies and Truth

  • Lies. Hitler and the “Nazi” Party were secretly funded by international jewish bankers and Hitler himself was a crypto-jew.
  • Truth. All these allegations can be traced back to charges made in the jewish-communist press in Germany in the 1920s and 1930s during Hitler’s rise to power. These lies were intended to undermine Hitler’s credibility and demoralize his ardent followers. In 1923 Hitler successfully sued a jewish-communist newspaper in Germany for claiming he was financed by jews and was awarded a sizeable settlement.

The best and most reliable book on this subject is Who Financed Hitler: The Secret Funding of Hitler’s Rise to Power, 1919-1933 by James Pool. The book shows that Hitler received major financial backing from powerful German industrialists, not from international jewish bankers.

3. More evidence that Hitler was not a jew agent

  • Hitler was a humble man from a humble background. He came from a working class family, was orphaned later on in his childhood, and lived hand to mouth selling street paintings. Jews could have used any number of honed agents as they have with so many other agent-leaders. Also, there is zero indication that jews bought off Hitler.
  • Hitler was a brave soldier. If Hitler was an ‘agent’, why was he an authentically brave soldier fighting in the trenches? This man had more courage than all of us put together. Hitler relished the opportunity to fight for his country, and for the spirit of the Germanic/Aryan race. He was injured twice and hospitalized. He loathed cowardliness and those who would not contribute toward the war effort. This is not the conduct of an ‘agent’.
  • Hitler abolished usury. Usury is the jews’ number one control weapon, the parasite’s main tool. Why would the jews allow a leader/agent to show the results of a country without this parasitism, knowing this would be broadcast all across the world?
  • Hitler was clean-living, compassionate and nature-conscious. He was teetotal, vegetarian, promoted traditional remedies, had an affinity toward animals, was anti-vivisection, and he promoted naturalistic lifestyles for his people. Would it be logical to conclude that this man of compassion and substance who was deeply connected to nature was an anti-nature sell-out, an agent?
  • Hitler was slung in prison. Why was Hitler thrown in prison if he was an agent? Hitler’s imprisonment has been thoroughly documented by eminent historians. Hitler was not in prison for long because the authorities knew of the pressure that would come from the people if they held him indefinitely.
  • Hitler radically improved the working man’s lifestyle. If Hitler was an agent, why did he dramatically improve the working man’s lifestyle? He improved the working conditions, doubled the wages, reduced/eradicated their debt, instigated and provided an affordable Volkswagen (people’s car), built infrastructures to allow the working classes to travel around the country, made foreign cruises affordable/free of charge, etc, etc, etc.
  • Hitler’s/NSDAP’s policies were carried through to the T. Just look at the congruency they had. Every single one of these policies were anti JWO. Is this what you would expect of an agent?
  • Hitler made many peace offerings. If Hitler was ‘their bitch’, why did he make approximately 20 peace offerings to both France and Britain? It is a well-known fact that Hitler was infatuated with Britain and it’s empire, in the theme of Aryan enhancement.
  • Virtually the entire German population supported Hitler. If he was just a puppet of the jews, why did Hitler have 98% of the people on his side? Back then people were not stupefied and zombified as they are today. The German people were politically aware. They knew in their hearts and minds that Hitler was oozing authenticity, that he surged with passion for his people, for his race, and for Europe as a whole. Would almost the entire German population have so strongly supported an ‘agent’?

On a related point, Hitler was not a “puppet” of the Catholic Church as has been falsely claimed. Jews have published many books to try promote this anti-Hitler lie. Hitler was a lapsed Catholic and privately he was anti-Christianity (more on this in my post Revenge in realms of Death).

Fear of justice

Let’s get this straight

  • Judaism teaches that it’s fine to commit crime against non-jews,including pedophilia, theft, and murder.
  • Indeed, scholarly articles (referred to in recent posts) show that jews and their collaborators perpetrated the hoaxes / frauds of “global warming / climate change,” the CV-19 “pandemic,” and the deadly “vaccination.”
  • If you are not doing so already, Why are you not speaking up about this evil? As was noted in the post Where do you stand? whatever our religion, we cannot honestly claim to value truth, life and justice if we are not helping to spread the word about Talmudic evil.

As they control mainstream media and politics, jews will also be behind the attempt to fool ‘goyim’ with scare stories about an alien ‘threat’. Further, the criminals in control of our societal levers have the ET-type craft (e.g. the TR-3B — a topic covered in the post Flying Triangles warn of grave danger) and technology of Directed Energy Weapons (used to dustify the WTC on 9/11) and illusion (used to create the illusion of passenger jets striking the WTC on 9/11) to put on an alien ‘attack’ extravaganza. Anyone who is familiar with the facts of this subject will recognize the attempted alien ‘threat’ deception for what it is.

The greatest threat to life on Earth is not from ET aliens. The most dangerous aliens are Talmudic aliens. It is not difficult to understand why jews have been expelled from civilized societies on 1,030 occasions (details in the post Aliens 4) for their relentless crimes against non-jews. It is difficult to understand why people have not yet stopped this evil.

Thor’s hammer

In the Eddas, Thor’s Hammer is called Miollnir, i.e. the ‘Crusher’ or ‘Grinder’. Odinists have used this symbol in their liturgies since ancient times. It is primarily a sign of Divine reverence, commitment to work with the Aesir gods in their struggle against the forces of chaos, and protection by the gods (Odinist Fellowship, London). This reverence and commitment to truth, life, and justice is represented in the Nine Noble Virtues to be practiced by all Odinists. The last time we saw great political leaders and their nations doing that was with Adolf Hitler (Germany) and Dr. Hendrik Verwoerd (South Africa). In both cases, jews were responsible for the deaths of those great men and their nations. The losses were catastrophic for nationalism — the opposite of the brutal world government that jews are now trying to impose on us.

Naturally we don’t need to identify as pagan / Odinist to appreciate the enormous advantages of striving to live according to the Nine Noble Virtues. Recommendations: (a) Read through the virtues and consider how you could live more effectively by applying these virtues in your life, and (b) Consider whether you would recognize a political leader and party that embodies these virtues.

1. Paganism

  • Gods and goddess of justice. Represented above are the gods and goddess of justice in our true religion, Odinism (the European form of paganism).
  • Virtues. Odinist ethics are not expressed as prohibitions and commandments. They are stated as virtues (Nine Noble Virtues) to be practiced by all Odinists: Courage, Truth, Honour, Fidelity, Discipline, Hospitality, Industriousness, Self-reliance and Perseverance (Odinist Fellowship, London).
  • Courage (extracts from Nine Noble Virtues). Courage is the bravery to do what is right at all times. Our ancestors did not hide their heads in the sand at the first sign of danger. Whether on the field of battle, or in a field of grain, the elders did not give up, but eagerly worked their Wyrd. Note: Wyrd [aka Örlög] is the cosmic web of cause and effect that is influenced by, and influences, everyone. It is not set in stone. Our choices in the moment are constantly modifying it. This differs from the concept of “fate,” because it does not imply being utterly bound by a predetermined future.
  • The Hávamál (passage 15, from Nine Noble Virtues)
    The coward believes he will live forever
    if he holds back in the battle.
    But in old age he shall have no peace

Note: The Hávamál is a collection of Old Norse poems from the Viking age and an important source of Old Norse philosophy.

2. Christianity

From Providence by Reginald Garrigou-Lagrange, O.P. (1877 – 1964, a French Dominican friar, philosopher and distinguished theologian):

  • Justice and courage are virtues and spiritual good.
  • Even if it means certain death to us, we are bound to do justice, especially where the injustice is grave.
  • “. . . Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for justice. . . . Blessed are they who suffer persecution for justice’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt. 5: 10)

3. The death penalty

A purpose of retributive justice such as capital punishment (the death penalty) is to prevent lynchings and other forms of vigilantism. Crimes that are punishable by death include:

  • Murder
  • Mass murder
  • Genocide
  • Crimes against humanity
  • Terrorism
  • Crimes against the state, e.g. attempting to overthrow the government, treason, espionage, sedition
  • Aggravated rape

Prevalence and popularity

From Wikipedia:

  • As of 2022, 55 countries retained capital punishment.
  • Over 60% of the world’s population live in countries where the death penalty is retained.
  • A spike in serious violent crimes has prompted some countries to effectively end the moratorium on the death penalty.
  • The majority of Americans support the death penalty for an individual convicted of murder.
  • Support for the death penalty is especially high among young adults, e.g. 76% of millennial South Africans support re-introduction of the death penalty, younger Mexicans are more likely to support the death penalty than older ones, and in Brazil 25 to 34-year-olds are the strongest supporters of the death penalty.

3.1 Hanging

Measured long drop hanging is arguably the most humane way to execute a criminal. Every effort is made to minimize the person’s mental and physical suffering. Done correctly, the whole process is over extremely fast. Humane hanging includes reference to The Official Table of Drops (a manual used to calculate the appropriate length of rope for long drop hangings) and knowledge of gallows, the noose, the hangman’s knot, positioning the noose (generally the knot is placed under the prisoner’s left ear — the subaural position), binding the hands, the hood, and how long to leave the body hanging.
